Why it works
A fraction tells you how many equal parts you have (the numerator, on top) out of how many the whole is cut into (the denominator, below). Different-looking fractions can be the same size: 2/4, 4/8 and 1/2 all show half the pizza.
Choose a pizza, a chocolate bar or a grid, set the slices and the coloured pieces, and turn on a second fraction to compare. The panel shows the simplest form, the decimal and the percentage.
